Fieldtrip to see the Permian carbonates and clastics of NE England!
It was our great pleasure to take super-keen geoscience, drilling and engineering staff from Petrogas around the Zechstein carbonate outcrops of NE England last week! We had lots of fun looking at ooids, dolomitisation and collapse breccias! Plus the complexities of dedolomitisation…… they were thrown in at the deep end in terms of carbonate reservoirs!
And to top it off, we had a real treat with Dr Richard Steele running an additional day looking at the Yellow Sands, which are the Rotliegendes equivalent onshore. Many thanks Richard Steele for an awesome day – aeolian sandstones are a lot more organised than our messy Zechstein carbonates!!!!
