Southern Lake District Fieldtrip
In mid-May Andy did a trial run of a fieldtrip to look at icehouse cyclicity in Dinantian carbonates in the southern Lake District, which will feature as a half-day excursion in September for the Westmorland Geological Society. This opportunity is a follow-on to the visit to Trowbarrow Quarry last June, and presented itself because, passing by en-route to their holiday in Scotland, were Paul Wright and Sue Marriott; we were accompanied by Richard Wrigley (WGS fieldtrips and lectures organiser) and Andy’s wife July. There was long and varied discussion of various features some of which we could not even decide if they were botanical or zoological; but the discussion was as fine as the weather was, followed by an excellent meal that evening in Kendal.
